The Jared Box Project

This year, my chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Alpha Nu Sigma, is working in collaboration with a wonderful organization called the Jared Box Project as one of our service projects. Jared Boxes are shoe-box size plastic storage containers filled with toys! Upon completion, Jared Boxes are delivered to children residing in hospitals. All Jared Boxes my chapter collects and makes will be donated to kids at Grand Strand Medical Center, located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

According to TheJaredBox.com, “the goal of the Jared Box Project is to lift the spirits of children in the hospital. [The organization] was started in 2001 by the children at Our Lady of Victory School in State College, Pennsylvania, to honor their classmate and friend, Jared, [who fought cancer]. At just five years old, he demonstrated faith, wisdom, and compassion [until his battle ended].”

My chapter is currently seeking donations of plastic storage containers as well as small toys, in addition to completed Jared Boxes. All contributions are tax deductible and greatly appreciated. We will accept items until our deadline of December 13th. If you would like to donate, please contact me! This is truly an amazing cause and it is close to my heart in many ways!

Below I have included a link to the homepage of The Jared Box Project website, as well as additional links for more information about suggested toys and how to create the boxes.
